Abhishek Bachchan has been praised for his role in the upcoming series, Bob Biswas, after the release of the trailer for the series itself. In the trailer, the actor can be seen with plump cheeks and a jar. He poured the beans now on gaining extra weight and then kept them after the movie was off during shutdown.
Abhishek found it fun to gain extra kilos by stuffing Bengali sweets but at the same time he found it difficult to maintain this weight throughout the lockdown.
In an interview with online portal, Abhishek said, “I mean to put a clear weight on the shooting in Kolkata in the winter when you can have Good Sandesh and all the sweet sweet foods that Kolkata has, but I made my mind up because we had to so we shut down the shoot halfway due to the lockdown We were about 80 percent complete. We had another 10-15 days of work left. Throughout the shutdown, I had to maintain that weight. That was tough.”
The Dom star tried to wear the prosthetics as instructed by director Dia Ghosh and her father, Sujoy Ghosh, but decided not to use them. I weighed between 100-105 kilograms while filming. And if you see Bob’s face, the face changes as he’s round and his cheeks are full. When you do prosthetics on the cheeks, it looks like a prosthetic. So the stomach moves in a different way. When you have that weight and you carry that weight physically your whole performance changes because your body language changes your weight, your movement, your walk, your running, everything changes,” he said.
Bob Biswas tells the story of a killer who originally appeared in Vidya Balan’s “Kahaani” and was originally portrayed by Saswata Chatterjee.
Produced by Gauri Khan, Sujoi Ghosh and Gaurav Verma, ‘Bop Biswas’ is written by Sujoi Ghosh and directed by his daughter Dia Annapurna Ghosh.
