There are now many niche streaming services and channels that cater to specific interests. While it doesn’t have the breadth and depth needed to serve as your main streaming service, it might be worth adding on top or as part of the package.
For lovers of documentaries
curiosity stream It offers thousands of high-quality documentaries and TV shows, many of them original, for $3 a month or $20 a year. However, if you want 4K content, the price jumps to $10 per month or $70 per year.
For anime lovers
VRV It might be the best streaming service for anime and anime lovers. They currently include Crunchyroll, Cartoon Hangover, Mondo Media, Rooster Teeth, and VRV Select. The service costs $10 per month, but the lineup of channels seems to change often.
For fans of reality TV
Discover + Filled with familiar lifestyle shows, documentaries, and original reality TV shows covering cooking, travel, home improvements, history, true crime and more. The ad-supported tier is $5 per month, but you can pay $7 per month to become ad-free.
For sports lovers
ESPN + It is a sports streaming service that shows some of the NHL, MLB, college sports and football along with commentary shows. It doesn’t have live NBA or NFL games, but the sport is not underrepresented in on-demand broadcasts, so fans may feel the $7 per month or $70 per year price is worth paying. ESPN+ is a better value if it’s taken as part of a bundle with Disney+ and Hulu for $14 a month.
For fans of British TV
Brit Box It claims to have more British groups than any other service. It has a lot of old and new British TV shows and a few movies made by UK public service broadcasters, including BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. It costs $9 per month or $90 per year.
