Disney World Temporarily Suspends Vaccine Authorization to Employees

Bloomberg – Walt Disney World in Orlando has stopped giving vaccines to cast members and staff, according to a local TV report, and a spokesperson for the resort complex declined to comment on specific changes to the vaccine’s mandate, which were first reported to Fox 35 in Orlando.

“We believe our approach to mandatory vaccinations was the right one as we continued to focus on the safety and well-being of our cast members and guests,” the spokesperson said in an email. “At this point, more than 90 percent of active cast members in Florida have already achieved their full vaccination.”

Fox 35 reports that those who have not been vaccinated will be required to wear face masks and practice social distancing.

The decision comes just days after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed legislation restricting mandates for a Covid vaccine by employers. DeSantis has fiercely opposed vaccine and mask mandates throughout the pandemic.

Disney World cast member Nick Catuano told Fox 35 that he and other cast members had received an internal memo notifying them of the stop. The memo, which Fox35 said has obtained a copy of, said the halt will be in effect while Disney World evaluates new state laws.
