an actress Liz Gillies took over the design idea for one of her dynasty character, Fallon Carrington.
“Fallon has a similar flair, but she definitely goes places I wouldn’t normally go in real life,” Gillis explains. “She takes chances that I didn’t take advantage of, but it affected my style a lot.”
Before working on the show, Gillies only wore black, but that all changed when she started playing Fallon: “I started this show, and that changed really fast. Her fashion sense definitely influenced me and my choices.”
The dramatic coats, dresses, and shoes that Gillies wears on the show are meant to be an extension of her character. “Without these clothes, Fallon wouldn’t be the character that she is, and I think I can say that to all the characters on the show,” she says.
As Gillis and fashion designers choose Fallon’s clothing, they have to take a lot of variables into account. “It’s so important that we get it right when we choose these clothes,” she says. “We’re thinking about what kind of mood it would be in, and what the other characters would be wearing.”
When it comes to her wardrobe, Gillies’ character loves to show off. From a bold Gucci suit to an over-the-top Alessandra Rich-inspired dress, Fallon loves to make a statement.
Speaking of making a statement, one of Gillies’ favorite pieces she wore to the show was the Monique Lhuillier gown with a train—yes, a train.
“I was living my ’70s fantasy in this dress,” she recalls. “I sang ‘Leather and Lace’ in this dress. A lot of good things happened in this dress.”
We’re also very jealous of the range of shoes Gillies has been through, including a pair of Gucci shoes that Fallon has worn a few times.
“Falun has not stopped wearing [these] in the first season. We wore them a lot, and we actually had to retire because we felt that maybe Fallon wouldn’t wear the same shoes so many times,” she admits.
One of Gillies’ favorite pairs of shoes her character wore is a pair of dazzling Christian Louboutin shoes she wore at the ball in Paris in Season 2, which she calls one of her favorite pairs of Fallon shoes of all time.
We can certainly understand why.
