Rapper Megan Thee Stallion was scheduled to perform at the American Music Awards tonight – but pulled out for “personal reasons”.
MTO News spoke with someone at Meghan’s camp who told us that Meghan is “extremely devastated” by the death of her best friend – and fellow rapper – Young Dolph.
Meghan’s cast member told MTO News that Meghan is “shattered” by Dolph’s death, and she is “not in a position to perform.”
We wish her and all the family and friends of the legendary rapper peace and healing during this difficult time.

Meghan made the announcement via her Twitter on Saturday to explain to fans why she won’t be able to attend the AMA at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The concert is set to deliver the first live performance of a remix version of “Butter” with BTS. A remix of Megan “Butter” was dropped with the K-pop group over the summer after a legal battle with her record label 1501 Certified Entertainment.
She wrote, “Very attractive I was so excited to go to the AMA and perform with BTS, but due to an unexpected personal matter, I can no longer attend.” “I’m so sad! I really can’t wait to get on stage with my buddies and perform #BTS_Butter for real soon!”
Meghan was nominated for three awards at this year’s gala – Favorite Hip Hop Artist, Favorite Hip Hop Album for “Good News” and Favorite Pop Song for “Body”. BTS is Artist of the Year, favorite duo and favorite pop song of “Butter”. Olivia Rodrigo leads the field with seven nominations, while The Weeknd follows with six. Other top candidates include Doja Kat and Jevon. Cardi B will host the AMA Gala and will feature a slate of performances from Rodrigo and Bad Bunny with Tiny, Julieta Venegas, Tyler The Creator and Carrie Underwood, among others.
