The trial date for the former Fort Worth police officer accused of the fatal shooting of #AtatianaJefferson has been set.
Originally scheduled to begin in November 2021, the judge has set a new date for #AaronDean to go to trial for the death of #AtatianaJefferson on January 10, 2022.
This comes more than two years after Jefferson was shot through the window, during a wellness check.
If you remember, Attiana Jefferson was murdered one Saturday morning in 2019, while she was inside a home visiting a family. The officer answered the call after a neighbor reported that the front door to the residence was open. From there, things took a very tragic turn.
Within minutes after the call was made, police appeared at the scene and began searching the house from the outside. Body camera footage shows the officer who fired the fatal shot at Jefferson, moving around the house, looking through the doorway and entering the backyard with a flashlight before the shooting. The officer shouted: Hands up! Show me your hands!” before shooting in the window, in less than 3 seconds.
Since her death, Jefferson’s mother and father have both died. Her father died of a heart attack and her mother died two months after his death.
Roommates, we will keep you posted on any updates.
