More than 20 people were injured, and one more person was reported to have died after a car crashed into a Christmas parade on Sunday in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
There were reports of gunshots fired during the incident in suburban Milwaukee.
Waukesha Alerts reported a “mass casualty incident” in the Waukesha Holiday Parade area on West Main Street and North Barstow Street.

A live video of the parade from Waukesha, as well as videos taken by parade attendees, showed a red SUV breaking through barriers and speeding down the road where the parade was taking place.
It is unclear how many people have been injured, and police said they could not immediately provide details.

A Waukesha school board member named Cory Montiho spoke to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, saying the car hit his daughter’s dance team.

The police chief said a car had been seized

President Thompson said, “At approximately 4.39pm, a red SUV entered the Christmas parade we were having downtown. More than 20 were injured as a result of this accident.
“We recovered a suspicious car. It is an ongoing investigation. The victims were transported from the scene by ambulances, and the officers took some of the wounded to hospitals,” he added.
“It is a very tragic accident, very chaotic. There are no more threats, the scene is now safe. My prayers and thoughts go to family members.
“We have an important person to look forward to at this time.”
